Chanukah Message 2013
In a recorded Chanukah message, the Chief Rabbi compares the festivals of Chanukah and Purim, elucidating that while they may have certain commonalities, they also bear significant differences. Both festivals celebrate the Jewish people’s overcoming of an existential threat, but while Purim commemorates attempts to thwart their physical survival, Chanukah recalls a plot to kill them spiritually.
