Welcome to the Marriage Authorisation department at the Office of the Chief Rabbi. If you are visiting this page we hope it is for your forthcoming marriage or that of a relative, and wish you mazal tov at this special time.

In order to be married through the United Synagogue, it is necessary that you make contact with the Office of the Chief Rabbi to register your marriage.

Before your wedding can take place under Orthodox auspices, you will both need to provide documentary evidence that you are both Jewish and eligible to marry. The Office of the Chief Rabbi has recently launched a new online marriage authorisation application form for all couples, marrying through the United Synagogue.  Please call and register your marriage and a link will be sent to you. Once your application has been submitted you will be contacted for a follow-up meeting where all original documents will be shown to the Rabbi for verification.

The Office of the Chief Rabbi offers couples the opportunity, at their meeting, to sign the Pre-nuptial Agreement (PNA). Please take the time to read the information on the click here (PNA) and the merits of signing this important document prior to your marriage.

If you have any questions or need some assistance, we are here to help you. Please contact Dinah Herman, Marriage Liaison, either by email or on 0208 343 6314 or Rabbi Birnbaum on 0208 343 6313.

Please visit the United Synagogue here for instructions on the actions a couple need to take towards their big day.
