Chief Rabbi responds to murder of Mohammad Abu Khdair

The Chief Rabbi condemns the savage murder of a Palestinian teenager in the harshest terms, stressing that should it be revealed as an act of retribution for the recent murder of 3 Israeli teenagers, it would be truly shameful.

“I am shocked and deeply saddened by the brutal and callous murder of Mohammad Abu Khdair. It would be utterly shameful if this heinous crime was perpetrated as an act of revenge. I totally condemn this act and I call on Jewish leaders, in Israel and abroad, to condemn such acts in the strongest terms and to clearly distance Judaism from such conduct. The Frenkel, Shaar and Yifrach families are to be commended for their dignified response to the horrific murders of their sons. We must do everything possible to reduce tension and dispel the atmosphere of incitement and revenge. We must embrace and affirm life, together.”
