Event

A Chanukah party organised by Pinner Shul and held at Moriah Jewish Day School brought together the Moriah and non-Moriah community for the first time, enlightening participants about the creative community events created by Pinner Synagogue. A festive family atmosphere was felt throughout proceedings, which included a pantomime, a performance by the school choir and a firework show to conclude, with participants particularly remarking on a strong sense of unity.

Objectives

To unite a diverse community that includes Moriah Jewish Day school, Pinner synagogue and surrounding communities; to create a multi-generational event that brings together all members of the family for Chanukah; to create a unique family experience.

Evaluation from Karen Kinsley:

“This event really brought the Pinner and surrounding areas together, making a vibrant community feel especially united. It had a great feel good factor and was a traditional family community event. There was also a feeling that Moriah families were introduced to the good community work that the New Generation (pinner shul) committee does.”

Participant feedback

  • It was a delight to see such happy children and experience a stronger sense of community, all while observing Chanukah and meeting new people from my local community.
  • What an enjoyable afternoon! The community spirit was at its best, and it was pleasure to celebrate the festival with friends.
  • It was lovely that the shul collaborated with the school, staging the perfect event for parents and children, who were suitably entertained.
  • My daughter was very excited to sing in the choir, and the other events were very good too.
